Rescue Me ID: 17-07-25-00030NALLA (female)

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Nalla is a sweetheart, and has big, rounded ears! We were tempted to change her name to Mikki (Mouse), but she is getting to know the name Nalla. :-) She also has some of the cutest back-leg fur we've ever seen, and a fantastically bushy tail. Nalla arrived at a shelter with puppies (which were adopted out), so she has been a momma. When a young pup came to us a couple days after Nalla did, she showered the puppy with kisses. Nalla gets along well with other dogs for the most part. She is a little food possessive, likely from being underfed, so it will be best to feed her separately from others and work on the behavior over time. We are ... (Read More)so glad Nalla came to us, as she is a lovely girl. She enjoys human company. She sings (howls) like the husky she is when she is separated from her people/pack. Nalla will be available approximately mid-August 2017 and will come spayed, up to date on vaccines, dewormed and microchipped. (Less)

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bear is a handsome 3-year old malamute/husky mix, about 55 pounds of love and character. He is very sweet, and talky. When you give him scratches, he makes the best sounds. He would be great as an only dog (he's likes to have your undivided attention and affection) with someone who had time to take him to the park or hiking or running. He has been great with kids. He has not been around young toddlers. No little dogs; he gets carried away playing. He is medium energy and past the crazy husky/malamute young years. He loves to go for walks. Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Jacob is a 2-year old husky/malamute mix. He is about 55 pounds. He is medium energy, preferring strolls over runs. He loves to hang out and be with his humans, and is much lower maintenance than a rowdy husky :). Jacob is very loving and adorable, has gorgeous, soulful eyes and an adorable black spot on his tail. He gets along with other dogs, he is great with them as long as they are not aggressive/dominant. If your dog is even tempered -middle of the road - or passive, Jacob would do great. Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)

Trooper is a magnificent fellow, a mixture of German Shepherd and possibly malamute. He weighs in at about 80 pounds. He is discriminating in who he bonds with, so he will need time and patience to establish the trust that he needs with his new owner. He walks nicely on the leash and has shown no aggression towards other animals, however, he is not fond of pushy or rough playing dogs. Trooper is basically a one person dog and would do best with a single individual who prefers a quiet lifestyle without a lot of people coming and going. He also needs to be the only dog in the household. Trooper will guard his home and bark at ... (Read More)intruders, therefore, his new owner must be confident and set rules and boundaries for him. On-going obedience training is required. He is crate trained, however, he will need some brushing up in that area as well as appropriate behavior. Given time, patience and consistency , he would make a top notch and totally loyal companion. He does know some basic obedience and his desire to please is very high.     Very loving dog. Was trained as a service animal for balance due to MS, but does not have registration papers as such. Gets along very well with my senior, male, German Shepard mix, and my two cats. There is some food aggression with the dog, but not with the cats. He needs daily activities and jobs to do, daily walks, and plenty of affection. He does tend to get board easily.

PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in California
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.
