Rescue Me ID: 15-05-19-00078Spirit (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Spirit is a purebred TAMASKAN DOG. She is NOT a Malamute, there was not Tamaskan as a choice. This is a VERY rare breed, please look it up. Not many people know of this breed and Spirit's adoption fee is not cheap. You will probably not find one other than her. She is two years old. Spirit has the most unbelievable demeanor and is very submissive to other dogs. She is NOT a watchdog, so if you are looking for one, Spirit is not for you. She is wonderful with children of all ages. She WILL CHASE CATS so please do not have any cats. She looks VERY much like a wolf. She cannot be left unattended in a yard with a fence lower than 6ft, she ... (Read More)doesn't know it but she could jump it. Spirit is a bit of a digger. Spirit is crate trained and house broken and loves her crate, it's her den. She is an escape artist and a mischief maker but extremely affectionate and otherwise very well behaved. Oh, wait, she is a counter surfer and will steal your dinner behind your back...lol. She LOVES the dog parks and the water. She is an inside dog but loves to be outside when it's cool. She will lounge outside on a lawn chair or Kuranda bed. She sheds heavily twice a year but very little in between. If you can't handle fur, she is not the dog for you. She is a hoarder of toys and doesn't like to share them with other dogs but is not aggressive at all, she will just let them know she doesn't share...lol. She pulls on the leash but will come with her prong collar, this is the only way you can walk her she is VERY strong! Spirit is an AMAZING family dog and we are heartbroken to have to find her a home but are moving and have one dog too many for the home. She will come with her crate, all her vet paperwork from the day we got her, bowl, food, and prong collar. If you are interested please email and I will let you know her adoption fee and when I am available to show her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-23-00566Hatchi (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations

Hatchi is almost 4 years old(September). We purchased her from a breeder in Pennsylvania and she was spayed in 2013. She weighs about 100 lbs. Unfortunately, she has outgrown the space we can provide her. Hatchi would benefit from a one or two person home with a lot of land to run and play. She loves attention and having her belly scratched. Children are ok but would probably fair better with older children. She does not get along with other dogs but has been fine with our two cats. Doesn't do great on a leash but with time and patience could probably be trained. She is sweet but can be timid and protective around strangers. We would ... (Read More)love to find her a loving home, with lots of land, and time to spend with her. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-04-22-00531Maverick (male)

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Maverick is a love able dog who needs to be an only pet. He has a dominant personality and does NOT do well with most other dogs. He would do best with someone who is an experienced dog owner. I do not have children, so I am not sure how he would do with them. He has a high prey drive and is often protective of his food. I know he will do great in the right home, it's just a matter of finding his person.

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Very sweet temperament. Loves to play with people and other dogs. Has anxiety when left alone, even when another dog is present. She will scratch up doors when alone so will need to be kenneled, but does NOT do it when people are around. Knows basic commands. Very smart. Owner joined the Air Force Reserves and will be in training for up to 6 months so cannot keep her.

PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in Florida
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.
