Coyo was a runaway stray Malamute that I found- he was never claimed so we kept him. A vet indicated that he is most likely a purebred and about 2 years old. He is the sweetest dog, great with kids, loving, and pretty well behaved. We have had him for right at a year now, so we know him pretty well. I have two kids- 13 and 6 whom he loves. He knocks the little one down a lot in fun, I'd maybe recommend to go to a home with kids 12 years or older. I have an invisible fence which will not contain him. We live in the country so he has found cows and chickens to be fun to chase, which is why we have to get rid of him. Ranchers don't ... (Read More)appreciate a dog chasing the cows. He loves attention from humans, and gets along well with other dogs at the dog park and at home. (I have 3 others who stay home :) ) I really want him to have a forever home, not in the country- or with a physical fence to contain him. He wants to be part of the family- Not tied up in the back of the house. Only serious inquiries please. I prefer someone who has had malamutes before. (Less)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Fearful/Anxious

We had gotten her when she was 5 months old and she was raised on an enclosed porch with 1 person contact-no socialization. She is now 3 and has gotten better but still needs more socializing. I have become more disabled and just cannot handle training her. She is a beautiful dog and is for lack of a better word a lover. I want her to go to a good home who will not beat her or treat her bad. She is an inside/outside dog and crate trained..like I said I have become sicker than I was and need to thin out. I would consider giving her away to the right person. She is VERY shy and needs someone who has patience and TIME to bring her out of her ... (Read More)shell. It took us quite a while for her to trust us too. I would prefer someone with Malamute experience please. She has never been on a farm so I have no idea about her with farm animals. She does get along with my other dogs except my Husky, which they fight, so we have to keep them separate. You can reach me at 678-831-0764 ask for Cris please. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in Georgia
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.

An Alaskan Malamute belonging to George Lucas was responsible for making the noises that inspired Chewbacca's vocal sounds in Star Wars. Alaskan Malamutes are so friendly that they do not make good guard dogs. The howl of an Alaskan Malamute is virtually indistinguishable from that of a wolf.
