He is being reposted as 2 approved adoptions have both been derailed. The first couple did not install the required fence as they stated they would before we would let him go home. The second person was afraid of him when they met. Spirit can be very boisterous, in your face, excited and often with nipping (not biting!) behaviors that are overwhelming to some people not prepared for such strong energy that can knock one down. His strength and energetic behaviors lead us to believe he would do best in a home without small children. He needs to get out of the chaos of shelter living and being in a run 22 hours per day. He may have had some training as he will sit on command. He needs to have a safe place to exercise and burn off some of his daily enthusiasm. He is a good boy. He recently spent 5 days with a volunteer while recovering from intestinal issues and proved to be housebroken. He has been paired with a female dog outside and he shows signs of friendly desire to play with some of the male dogs on the other side of fenced play yards. A physically secured fenced yard will be required to adopt Spirit. Spirit has golden eyes. He is not totally white. He has a dark grayish black saddle that can be seen on our facebook page. A pre-adoption questionnaire is required to initiate the the approval process to adopt. Our process for local and out of state adopting and requirements to adopt are at: https://www.facebook.com/548822128495391/photos/a.984873858223547.1073741865.548822128495391/984873884890211/?type=3&theater . The adoption process is detailed with the form. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a 'No kill' shelter which provides quality care, daily walks and/or fenced area playtime, spay/neuter-all vaccines - deworming -vet exam-standard disease testing and monthly heart worm prevention treatment. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoption hours are Tues-Sat 10-4 and Sun 1-4. Contact or visit CSHS, 4823 Helen Hwy. 75N, Sautee, GA 30571, email@example.com. 706-865-4135. The shelter is located 4 miles south of the alpine town of Helen in the NE mountains. Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.
