Boofi Kat is a 3 year old red/cream Alaskan Malamute that we pulled from a local shelter where he was dumped by a breeder after she discovered he was heartworm positive. We have treated him and he is now 100% healthy. Heartworm negative. Weighs approx. 80 lbs. Boofi is a big teddy bear. Although he is a big boy, he is extremely gentle and longs for hugs & attention--very people oriented. He is dog friendly as long as he doesn't feel threatened. Loves children. Our vet says he would make a great service dog. He is average energy but he does like to dig. Travels well and does very well on a leash. Would make a great companion dog for seniors. ...     LINK joined our pack! He is a 3yr old Alaskan Malamute Siberian Husky mix who weighs 85lbs! This boy was at a local county shelter multiple times due to not being cat friendly, and is a 6ft fence jumper! He was going to be put back up for adoption, but the staff knew he would be better off with a rescue. With the help of volunteers at the shelter we were able to rescue this handsome fellow! Link will need an owner who can leash walk ONLY. No fences for this big guy. He loves other dogs and people. But he does have anxiety when being crated and will drool a lot. PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in North Carolina
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.
