Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs. Link's Story... LINK is a 3yr old Alaskan Malamute Siberian Husky mix who weighs 80lbs! This boy was at a local county shelter multiple times due to not being cat friendly, and is a 6ft fence jumper! After we heard his story we rescued him and are searching for his perfect home! Link will need an owner who can leash walk ONLY. No fences for this big guy. He loves other dogs and people. But he does have anxiety when being crated. His anxiety was out of control when we first got him which is why we believe he ended up at the shelter so many times. ... (Read More)He is also an escape artist! We have started him on 60mg of Prozac daily and he is a different dog. Exercise also plays a big role in this as well! He is now more laid back and content. We believe he would be ok without being crated as he has not been destructive. Experienced owner is a must as he would not be a beginner dog. Link plays well with other dogs, and would love to have a do sibling to hang out with in his new home. NO cats NO fences unless 8ft tall or how wired at the top NO apartments NO small dogs Link is a sweetie and we know his family is out there! He's fully vetted, and up to date on preventatives/vaccines. His adoption fee is $225. Email his foster mom MeganFCHS@gmail.com if you have more questions, or apply at www.pawsforlifenc.org (Less)

Miles got his name from his rescue story. He was a stray wandering down a dead end road and Animal Control picked him up. No one knows the miles he traveled alone, scared, and abandoned, but all that is behind him now as he awaits for his deserving forever home. Miles loves nothing more than to have your attention. All he wants to do is be beside of you and give you his paw; he's nothing but a big ol' baby who just simply wants to be loved. He is a hugger too! He also enjoys his toys ... (Read More)as he will just prance around just waiting for you to play with him. He is crate and house-trained. He needs to be properly introduced to new dogs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-20-00544Saben (female)

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Needs Vaccinations, Abused/Neglected, Fearful/Anxious

Just over a year ago my wife showed up with this dog out of the blue that needed help. She was said to be a husky but she looks more like a malamute to me. She had been neglected and her fur was completely matted. At that time we got her shaved, spayed, and up to date on shot. She is now due for her yearly shots again. She is currently on Trifexis for heartworm prevention. She needs to go to a home without other animals. So far I have been able to pull her off when she has attacked other animals, but if she hurts someones pet she will be put down.

PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in North Carolina
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in North Carolina if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.

An Alaskan Malamute belonging to George Lucas was responsible for making the noises that inspired Chewbacca's vocal sounds in Star Wars. Alaskan Malamutes are still used as sled dogs for personal transportation and competitive mushing. Alaskan Malamutes are so friendly that they do not make good guard dogs.
