Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Female Dogs Only, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is King. I will be four years old in September & I have tons of energy. I love to run and play fetch. I love kids from birth to 18. The little ones like to ride me like a horse and pull on my floppy ears. I will sit & stay on command but I need more leash training. I got good reports from VCA Hospital when I was boarding there while my family was on vacation. I definitely need more socializing with other animals but I do live with a female miniature schnauzer that I think is my mother since I have been around her from the age of 3 months. My owners are having to move and after diligently trying to find a new place that would ... (Read More)accept me they have had no luck. It saddens all of us that we are needing to find me a new forever home. I am up to date on my shots and flea & heart worm prevention. I have had DNA testing done as well. I crave attention and I love to please. I would make a great best friend for a single guy or gal wanting a loyal buddy or to a family that has time to spend with me. I am kennel & house trained & spend my days outside in the backyard or in the house. I have never slept out side & would need to be brought in at night to sleep in my kennel or next to my new best friend. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-07-17-00124Alaska (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Very Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Alaska's human was laid off a couple months ago from the oil/gas industry and was not successful finding employment. He was on a work Visa which expired at end of June. We were in agreement with him that it would be extremely hard on Alaska to endure traveling and moving to Singapore with him. Alaska Was returned to us. She will need a new furever home or foster. Alaska has come a long ways from living 8 years in a puppy mill :( She does good around other dogs, can go to dog parks and is an easy keeper. Curious about cats but leaves alone. She can still be shy/timid so will need some extra time to transition to a home. A quiet laid back home ... (Read More)is best for her. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-04-00351Kyra (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kyra is available for adoption or foster after being adopted over a year. Within the last couple of weeks she's started acting out by breaking fence planks and being destructive. She doesn't do well in the crate. Her owners say nothing has changed in family life or environment to cause this and she just had her annual. 'She does well at doggie play days & doesn't seem to have any issues with other dogs large or small...She loves to talk to you, and will dash about the house and chase her tail, but this playfulness has taken some time to come about and lasts only for a brief period of time. We took her to dog training when we got her, she ... (Read More)does very well on a leash, but doesn't come well which is another concern, in the house/yard she'll sit, sort of stay, lay down...none of them extremely well, but she does them.' We are now looking for a committed adopter to help her thru these new issues!! She now weighs 124lbs and needs to lose about 10lbs. Originally adopted 1/3/2016; returned to rescue 5/11/2017 (Less)

Alaskan Malamute Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Max is a 4 year old Malamute mix, I have owned both Max and his sister Molly since they were about 8 weeks old. He is a great dog they have always been kept indoors, and he likes to be close by. He is on the timid side and is unsure about new things, dogs, and kids. We recently had a baby and can no longer keep him with a baby in the house. He has always been up to date on all vaccinations and worm/flea preventatives. He is kennel trained and house broken.

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Ari is an older sweet boy. He plays well with his foster brother, Red, another male malamute and a husky foster brother too! He needs some leash training but his house manners are pretty good. Ari loves a nice comfy dog bed to hang out on when in the house. He's been around dogs his size and beagle size with no problems (even with same sex) although he doesn't always like to share! He is a vocal boy too. NO CATS! Older kids preferred. We would love to find Ari an experienced furever home. Located in Valley View (near Denton), Texas. Check out more pictures of Ari on facebook at Texas Alaskan Malamute Rescue.

Coda is a beautiful playful girl with a long coat (woolly) and is apprx 7-8 years old. Coda would really do well as an only dog or with a laid back submissive boy (we would have to evaluate any dog meet & greets). She is pretty much your typical diva: independent and could care less about a lot of things!! No cats. Coda will be an easy keeper. She loves her walks and hanging out in a home. OLDER kids preferred. Located in Houston, Texas. Check out her facebook album of pictures: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154013702099506.1073741988.90351374505&type=1&l=0d49910536

PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in Texas
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.

lnteresting Alaskan Malamute Trivia Low-Cost Texas Spay & Neuter Clinics
An Alaskan Malamute belonging to George Lucas was responsible for making the noises that inspired Chewbacca's vocal sounds in Star Wars. Alaskan Malamutes are still used as sled dogs for personal transportation and competitive mushing. Alaskan Malamutes are often mistaken for Siberian Huskies. The howl of an Alaskan Malamute is virtually indistinguishable from that of a wolf.
