Rescue Me ID: 18-01-09-00013Leia (female)

Alaskan Malamute    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

LEIA and her brother, LUKE, came to us from Odessa, TX. All we know of their history is that they were raised in an apartment and turned into their ACS. We don't know why. Their birthday is 2/13/17 (best guess). Leia is 47.5# and Luke is 48.5#. They are Silver Malamutes...we believe purebred but no papers to prove it. They don't have a lot of manners yet...but they are very friendly, happy, and love to play. They are good with children. I have not had them inside my house much in order to know if they are house trained. Only New Year's Eve were they allowed in the house all night and they were VERY good after they got over the fire ... (Read More)cracker sounds. They were free in the house and did not get into anything they shouldn't...like the trash, bags of dog food, chasing the cats, etc. They do think that cats OUTSIDE are for fun and games. LEIA & LUKE are your typical Malamutes...vocal...and love to howl. They are beautiful together. They are neutered, 2 vaccinations, 1 Bordetella, Rabies, and tested NEG for heart worms. Adoption Fee: $450. This includes all medical, up-to-date vaccinations including Bordetella and Rabies, microchipping, health certificate to be able to travel, and the cost of transport to the PNW. We will not be adopting them unless you have dog experience and live in a home with a yard and space. These are NOT apartment/condo dogs, they need plenty of exercise and stimulation and are vocal. They are available for pre adoption which is very simple. When our transport delivers, you have a week trial period from then. If you will not adore for life, you simply foster, we rehome and your adoption fee is refunded so there is NO risk. Our next transport is later January 2018 for the NW. We do need an online application to consider adopters, please copy and paste and answer all questions. Thank you. PIease Read Before Adopting an Alaskan Malamute in Washington
Alaskan Malamute Dogs can make good pets in Washington if they match your IifestyIe. The Alaskan Malamute is an extremely friendly, large breed. Alaskan Malamutes are wonderful with older children. Alaskan Malamutes like to roam outside and need a large yard or acreage. Fences should be high with a buried base, since Alaskan Malamutes like to dig and can get out easily. The Alaskan Malamute is rowdy as a puppy but calms down as an adult dog. Human companionship is important as Alaskan Malamutes can get into trouble and ruin property if not given enough attention. Alaskan Malamutes need to be socialized with children and other dogs at an early age. Alaskan Malamutes, especially males, can be very dominant and may fight with other dogs if not exposed to them when young.

lnteresting Alaskan Malamute Trivia Low-Cost Washington Spay & Neuter Clinics
An Alaskan Malamute belonging to George Lucas was responsible for making the noises that inspired Chewbacca's vocal sounds in Star Wars. Alaskan Malamutes are still used as sled dogs for personal transportation and competitive mushing. Alaskan Malamutes are so friendly that they do not make good guard dogs.
